Students Praise Quality of Raffle's Free Water Bottles

Today marked the close of ticket sales for the Lion's Share Raffle. Students funneled into Orton Hall to submit their last few tickets and claim their hard-earned rewards. Though the student body had been promised high quality Bellarmine water bottles, student expectations were low. "I was pretty sure I was going to go in there, turn in my tickets and get some crappy stainless steel water bottle," one student reports. Fortunately, Bellarmine did not disappoint. "I was expecting a water bottle," said one senior, reflecting on his previous experience with the Raffle, "but in the past the stuff we got for turning in our raffle tickets was cheap garbage like T-shirts. I thought it would be bulky and unusable, made out of thick, heavy plastic or metal. These are lightweight, pliable, thin and stylish."

Such sentiments were echoed by the larger community, with many students praising the BPA free plastic and easily-loosened lids. While some students had allegedly predicted that the water bottles would be made of plastic, few if any had predicted that they would go the extra mile to ensure that the bottles were free of toxic materials such as BPA. A growing number of students praise the plastic bags included with the bottles as equally valuable. "They might not have lids," analyzes The Hyena's water-bottle pundit, "but with over twice the volume of the bottles, less than half of the weight, and the ability to be quickly and securely sealed with a rubber band or duct-tape makes them handy for storing wet and dry materials alike." While a recent poll reveals that only 30% of students value the accompanying bag as much or more than the water bottle itself, overall approval for the raffle is at an all-time high. It is clear that Bellarmine has really raised the bar for raffle ticket rewards with this year's sleek, flexible and non-toxic water bottles, and their accompanying bags.
