Food: ★★★★☆
Pros: Croutons in salad well-moistened. Standing in cafeteria line excellent exercise for lazy grandparents. Soup, Salad and Breadsticks an excellent combination. Limiting food to one round of appetizers better for health than Olive Garden's policy of unlimited soup salad and breadsticks.
Cons: The salad was a little wilted, likely an unintended consequence of smuggling it out of Olive Garden in a purse.
Entertainment: ★★★★☆
Pros: Students and Grandparents alike were thrilled to hear about how the principal's Grandmother didn't teach her to knit. Speakers and videos provided excellent excuse not to talk to boring grandparents.
Cons: Still had to listen to boring old people, just different ones.
Raffle: ★★☆☆☆
Pros: Anyone who had not entered the raffle was helpfully reminded to every 30 seconds. Total prize pool estimated at over $100 dollars.
Cons: I didn't win the raffle.
Music: ★★★☆☆
Pros: Letting the freshmen play first made the rest of the performance easier to appreciate. Percussion easily heard by Grandparents.
Cons: Music had no obvious connection to Grandparents, performance would have greatly benefitted from including songs such as Over the River and Through the Woods and Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, to name a few.
Venue: ★★★★★
Pros: The smaller size allowed you to get closer both emotionally and physically to your beloved Grandparents.
Cons: None, The Connelly Campus Center is perfect in every way, and suitable for all events.
Overall: ★★★★☆
While the food and entertainment made this event an overall positive, the presence of Grandparents was a questionable decision, and should be reviewed further.
